I self installed my car play box and must say I am pleasantly surprised. It’s easier to talk about it’s limitations, as there are very few,
Installation was a breeze, although the user manual gave me a QR code for a Evoque, which wasn’t helpful, if you look on YouTube the most comprehensive installation video is from MK Coding, for the L494.
So some limitations, the steering wheel allows volume adjustment, but the skip track function doesn’t work, WhatsApp audio calls are hit and miss, this could be signal related, but mobile calls work extremely well, far better than the OEM system.
The system is very responsive, and to hear audio you need to select aux, which sounds totally awesome, default sound was very bassy, and adjustment was required,
Maps are why I purchased the system, but the other applications works far better than I ever anticipated.

Overall I have had it in the car for a day and I’m very pleased with it. Was able to retain all my factory settings with back up camera and off road screen. Only things I’m still working on is I have no sound if I use the carabc module. If I use the factory Bluetooth it works great so that’s not an issue. Also still trying to figure out the mirroring option as I can’t seem to get my phone to mirror yet. Again wasn’t the reason I bought it. I wanted Apple CarPlay and android auto and I have those and they work flawlessly. Install was really easy. Everything plug and play no soldering or wiring anything extra.
Easy enough to install but could do with a link to a relevant YouTube video, rather than searching for ages to find the right one.
Excellent product. Value for money. An amazing way to convert the existing set up to CarPlay.
