We recently purchased a newer car that has CarPlay built in and wanted to have it installed on an older 2014 car. To have the radio replaced was around $1000. I bought this to give it a try expecting it to be a knockoff of the built in. I was proven wrong! It took less than 10 minutes to install myself. My phone connects quickly via Bluetooth (the built in requires a corded connection) and I can connect the sound to my car stereo via Bluetooth.
I have an older car and I’ve always wanted Apple CarPlay. The head units for the car were all in the hundreds on the cheaper side and required a ton of installation. I am not very familiar with installing a head unit, it may not be that tricky but I didn’t want to risk messing up my car. This was the perfect work around. Now I have Apple CarPlay for a fraction of the cost and the work. It works as I expected and has a clear picture. I absolutely love it and wish I had got it sooner!
There are many ways to set up this wireless CarPlay system. I was up and running in less than 2 minutes! I was fortunate enough to have it for a trip I took last week. I have an car that is just old enough to miss the built in options that many cars have today. This is how I setup and used it: I mounted it on the dash above my car’s stock radio. Then I plugged it in and turned it on. I chose the iPhone option and connect with bluetooth. DONE!!! During the trip I used Apple Maps and talking on the phone while driving. The device has a built in mic and speakers so phone usage is hands free… I asked people on the other end if they could hear me and they all said it was very clear. I didn’t get into all of the other setup options like the backup camera or the screen mirroring. I plan on giving those a try soon. But for me this was exactly what I needed for my trip. Worked extremely well and the touchscreen is very responsive! I like it!!! (and the awesome price!)
